Johanna was born in the north of Sweden, in a town called
Sundsvall.
When she was one year old her two deaf parents decided to take their
two children (Johanna and her big sister Jenny) and move to
Hällbybrunn, Eskilstuna.
After a few years another family member arrived, her little sister called Ann-Sofi.
When Johanna was young she didn’t think about music in a serious
way like her big sister did.
Johanna had another plan; she was going to be a football pro! And she kept that dream alive for a while.
After the 6th grade she changed school, to one called Tegelviken.
New school
In Tegelviken she meet a one year older girl, Maria.
After a few months they started to discover a talent they both
shared. They could sing!
And Johanna, who had just been singing in a choir before, got exited when she was going to sing in the school band. This was where she met her future drummer and guitarist.
The only time Johanna used to sing rock, was when she was standing on front of the mirror and shouted to Alanis Morsette
(That was actually a secret),
but then one day the guys from the band asked her if she wanted to start singing in their cover band. That opened Johanna's eyes. She was
going to be an musician!
So after football practice she went directly to the “Repis” (Where the band rehearsed) to play some music.
Her father didn’t approve.
The Football
Johanna kept playing football with the team, until one day
when she became hurt under a game. The injury was so bad that she had to take long a break from the practice. And when she came back (still a bit hurt), she wasn't as good anymore as she couldn’t kick a ball without feeling pain. So without her dads approval she quit.
Instead, she was going to be a rock star!!
Johanna started singing in a choir when she was ten years old. She always loved to sing,
but it was when she started to play in the cover band that she
discovered her BIG interest.
Started to write songs
When Johanna was fourteen years old she wrote her first song.
She tried to play the piano (she taught herself) and started to write more songs.
She didn’t know what to do with the songs and didn’t tell anyone
about it until one day when Mikael Ericsson heard her sing one of them. He thought that they could play her songs together just
for fun.
After a while they invited more musicians, and suddenly they had had their first gig, they had more songs to perform, a complete band with back up vocals. This band was, of course, Tambu.
Moved to Stockholm
When she quit high school she knew exactly what she wanted to do with her future.
And she went to the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, and started attending the music collage Rytmus. And that is where she is now; it’s her last
year in collage, she still writes music with the guys in the band, and she still loves it!
